"Inspiration in Imagination": My artwork features my portrait that is drawn in graphite with flowers and hummingbirds painted with acrylic paint. This piece is about how imagination can appear anytime, like when I'm doing homework - Joanna Chu
"The Peering Woman": “The Peering Woman” features an innocuous glance from a mysterious woman, with a dramatic Hollywood lighting. I wanted to capture the moment when someone turns their head, and the curiosity that simple glance can give. A snapshot in time. A momentary look. The beauty of the work comes from the ambiguity and short lived nature when you lock eyes with someone - Cathy Gao
"Humanoid": The human face was drawn with colored pencils and the background was painted with acrylic paint on top of a magazine collage. This piece is about the future of technology and its relationship with humans - Joanna Chu
"Good Morning": The image of a morning breakfast was painted with oil paints on newspaper. This piece is about a lifestyle, specifically an imperfect one - Joanna Chu
"Existential Crisis": I used colored pencils for my broken portrait, graphite in the background, gouache for the flowers, and I cut out letters from various magazines. My piece is about an existential crisis relating to identity - Joanna Chu
"Afternoon": Sometimes we find peace in the simple things. The three monks in Afternoon are shown strolling through the streets of Tibet, capturing the subtle harmony between the buildings and the mountains and trees, between man and nature - April Gong
"Overthinking": It's a digital piece and took around five hours. The painting is a representation of how many people, including me, tend to overly worry about matters that has left their hands already. What is beyond the glass cannot be changed by your shouts and screams---it ends up suffocating you instead - Jia Lee
